Our Current Project

A New Home for Antrim’s History

We are thrilled to announce that the Antrim Historical Society is now the proud steward of the historic Church of Christ at 100 Main Street — the beloved "brown church" that has graced our town since 1904.

This would not have happened without the extraordinary dedication of Gordon Allen, founder of the Antrim Community Board. Gordon championed this project — navigating years of negotiations, working tirelessly with the town, and never giving up on our vision of restoring this landmark as a museum for us and a community space for everyone. We owe him an immense debt of gratitude.

We are equally grateful to Lee and Leslie Davis and Trudy Dean — members of the Church of Christ congregation — whose extraordinary generosity made this gift possible (with approval from the Church of Christ). Their spirit of giving to the community is an inspiration to us all.

The building needs a new roof, window repairs, and much more — but we are energized and ready. Our dream is to transform this historic space into a museum and a gathering place with a community space for concerts and events (the acoustics are wonderful!). We'll be hosting an open house in the future so you can see it for yourself.

Our work is just beginning and will take several years to complete. Once we know our restoration and repair options, we can begin to apply for grant money to cover the expenses. At the same time, we will create a master plan for the future that will consider the availability of grant money and will enable us to pay for the renovations.
Stay tuned — and thank you, Antrim, for your continued support!
